Ezer Lanefesh helps families anywhere in Quebec with groceries and interest-free loans. Your request is private, and it is read by people — not by a system.
Ezer Lanefesh — עזר לנפש — means help for a soul.
What we provide
Two kinds of help, both practical.
Groceries and food
For households that come up short on food this month. We look at what your family actually needs rather than applying a fixed formula.
Interest-free loans
No interest and no fees — you repay only what you borrowed, on a schedule set with you. Meant to get you past a hard stretch, not to profit from it.
Who can apply
If you live in Quebec, you can ask.
- Anywhere in Quebec. Montreal, the regions, a small town — it makes no difference to us.
- Two references. Two people who know you and are willing to take a short phone call from us. A rabbi, a social worker, an employer, a neighbour — anyone who can vouch for your situation.
- There is never a fee. Applying costs nothing, and no one at Ezer Lanefesh will ever ask you to pay to be considered.
- What you write stays with us. Your application is read by the review committee and no one else. We contact your references, and only your references.
How it works

A small committee reads it and calls your two references. Nothing is shared outside that group.

You hear from us either way, normally within 48 hours.

- Two references: names, phone numbers, and how each one knows you.
